Best Time to do Hampi Rock Climbing

The winter season, from November to February, is the best time for rock climbing in Hampi. The weather is dry and perfectly pleasant, making your outdoor adventures thrilling and fun. Avoid the rainy season (July – August) as the rocks become very slippery. Avoid peak summer months (May and June) as well because the scorching sun makes bouldering difficult.

How to reach Hampi Rock Climbing Spots?

Many well-known bouldering areas are around Hippie Island. It’s only 4 km across the river from mainland Hampi. A short 5-minute coracle boat ride from Hampi Bazaar takes you to the island. A longer route (23 km) by road is also available from Hampi.

Many other bouldering areas are close to Hampi Bazaar, in the centre of the town. Hampi bus stand is only a few hundred metres from the bazaar. The nearest railway station to Hampi is Hospet Junction (14 km away), and the nearest airport is Jindal Vijaynagar Airport (35 km away). Bengaluru Kempegowda International Airport (360 km away) is the most accessible airport for Hampi.
